Ms Maria Nikoghosyan is a Bioinformatics PhD student and a junior researcher at the Bioinformatics group (BIG) of the Institute of Molecular Biology NAS RA. She studied Bioinformatics in 2013 during her bachelor’s at Russian-Armenian University (RAU). In 2017, she joined the Bioinformatics group and started working on her diploma thesis, which aimed to describe the global distribution of genetic markers associated with complex human disease development in different populations. She defended her thesis and graduated in 2018. In 2018, she started her PhD at RAU under the supervision of Dr Arsen Arakelyan and the co-supervision of Prof. Hans Binder. In 2021, she joined Armenian Bioinformatics Institute (ABI) as a researcher and a mentor. In 2022, she joined Binder Lab at ABI, where she is supervising a bioinformatics group in Armenia, which is working on the creation of a genome atlas of vine accessions in the Caucasus.
